Grow Walkies - Secure Dog Field

Zoomies, Sniffies & Tail Waggies – Why I Love Grow Walkies Secure Dog Field in Headcorn, Kent!

It's Peggy here, your favourite treat-loving Staffordshire Bull Terrier, and today I'm taking over the blog to tell you all about one of my favourite places in Kent...

Grow Walkies Secure Dog Field in Headcorn!

If you've never visited a secure dog field before, prepare to have your tail blown off (don't worry... it grows back... I checked).

Whether you're a puppy, a senior snoozer, a rescue dog, or just a professional zoomie expert like me, secure dog fields are one of the best places to explore.

What is a Secure Dog Field?

A secure dog field is exactly what it sounds like—a fully enclosed area that you can book privately, giving you exclusive use during your session.

That means...

🐾 No unexpected dogs
🐾 No cyclists whizzing past
🐾 No runners appearing from nowhere
🐾 No worrying about roads or traffic

Just you, your humans and acres of freedom.

Grow Walkies Headcorn offers around 2.5 acres of securely fenced countryside, complete with private bookings, secure access, fresh water and agility equipment, making it a brilliant place for dogs to safely enjoy off-lead adventures. Why I LOVE Grow Walkies ❤️

ZOOOOOMIES!

Have you ever had so much excitement bottled up inside that you just need to sprint?

That's me.

The second my lead comes off...

πŸ’¨ WHOOSH!

I become a four-legged rocket.

The best bit?

Mum doesn't have to shout every three seconds...

"PEGGY... COME BACK!"

Because she knows I'm safe inside the secure fencing.

I Can Sniff EVERYTHING

Dogs don't see the world...

We smell it.

Every blade of grass tells a story.

Who's been here?

Was it a Labrador?

A Spaniel?

Did someone leave chicken behind?

I need to investigate.

A secure field lets me sniff to my heart's content without being rushed.

Perfect for Playing

Grow Walkies has loads of space to play fetch, tug, practise tricks or simply roll around looking ridiculous (my personal favourite).

If you're training recall, building confidence or teaching new tricks, it's the perfect distraction-free environment too.

Why Secure Dog Fields are Amazing for Dogs

Not every dog feels comfortable on busy public walks.

Secure fields give every dog the chance to enjoy freedom safely.

They're especially brilliant for...

🐢 Reactive Dogs

If your dog worries about other dogs or people, exclusive-use fields remove that pressure.

No surprise encounters.

No stressful passing dogs.

Just calm, relaxed adventures.

🐢 Puppies

Young puppies can practise recall and confidence without the dangers of roads or distractions.

Learning becomes fun.

🐢 Rescue Dogs

Many rescue dogs have unknown histories or unreliable recall.

A secure field allows them to experience freedom safely while building trust with their owners.

🐢 Senior Dogs

Older dogs might not want huge countryside hikes anymore.

Instead they can wander, sniff and enjoy gentle exercise at their own pace.

🐢 High Energy Dogs

Looking at you...

Border Collies.

Spaniels.

Labradors.

Malinois.

Staffies (yes... guilty.)

A proper run burns physical and mental energy, often leaving us happier and more settled afterwards.

Benefits of Using a Secure Dog Field

Here are just a few reasons why more dog owners across Kent are booking secure fields:

✅ Safe off-lead exercise

✅ Fantastic recall training

✅ Builds confidence

✅ Great for nervous dogs

✅ Perfect for multi-dog households

✅ Ideal for dog photographers

✅ Excellent enrichment

✅ Stress-free walks

✅ Secure fencing offers peace of mind

✅ Exclusive private bookings

Why Mental Enrichment Matters

People often think dogs only need physical exercise.

Wrong.

We need brain exercise too!

Sniffing, exploring, problem-solving and discovering new environments tires us out in the best possible way.

After an hour at Grow Walkies...

I usually sleep like I've worked a full-time job.

(Which, to be fair, chasing tennis balls basically is.)

A Dog's Verdict ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Would I recommend Grow Walkies?

Absolutely.

It's one of my favourite places to stretch my legs, practise my zoomies and spend quality time with Mum.

Every visit is different.

Every visit is exciting.

And every visit ends with me happily snoozing in the car on the way home.

Life doesn't get much better than that.

Phoebe Gets New Wheels

πŸΎ Phoebe’s New Wheels: Because 14 Is the New 4! πŸ’š

If you’ve been following our adventures for a while, you’ll know that little Phoebe is officially 14 years young. πŸ₯ΉπŸ’•

And while she may still have the attitude of a puppy, her body is starting to remind us that she’s definitely earned her senior-dog status!

Phoebe is now going blind, is slightly deaf (or, as we like to call it, has developed selective hearing πŸ˜‚), and her back legs are becoming increasingly weak. Over the past few months, walks have become much harder for her. She used to happily come along for our 45-minute-plus adventures, but these days she can manage around 15–20 minutes before her legs start to wobble and give way.

The hardest part was watching her miss out on our field adventures. πŸ’”

We’d arrive at the fields and, by the time we got there, Phoebe had already used so much energy just getting around that she was exhausted. She still wanted to be part of the fun, but her little legs just weren’t always up for it.

Enter… Phoebe’s chariot. πŸ‘‘πŸΆ

We were absolutely thrilled when PawHut kindly gifted us their EasyFold Trail Pet Stroller, and honestly… it has been a complete game changer!

Now Phoebe can ride to the fields in style, saving all those precious little leg muscles for actually enjoying herself once we get there. πŸ₯°

Once we arrive, she can hop out and have a little wander around at her own pace, sniff all the important smells, investigate what everyone else is doing and generally pretend she’s still a young whippersnapper. πŸ˜‚

And when her legs start getting tired?

Straight back into the stroller she goes! πŸ›’πŸΎ

She can have a rest, enjoy the scenery and then get back out again when she feels ready. It means she gets to be included in our walks without having to push herself beyond what her body can comfortably manage.

And the best part?

It’s big enough for Prue to squeeze in with her too! πŸ˜‚

Because obviously one pensioner in a luxury chariot wasn't enough. Prue saw the new wheels and apparently decided this was now a two-dog chauffeur service.
πŸ’š What do we love about it?

The PawHut stroller has been designed with adventures in mind, with three large rubber wheels that are suitable for different terrains, making it particularly useful for our trips to the fields and parks. The front wheel can also be locked for extra control.

It has a soft, removable and washable cushion, which is VERY important when your passengers include muddy dogs who believe personal hygiene is optional. πŸ˜‚

There’s also an adjustable canopy, safety tethers inside, reflective strips and a rear footbrake, giving us peace of mind while Phoebe is cruising around.

And because apparently senior dogs need luggage too, there’s plenty of storage underneath and pockets at the back for all the essentials. Treats, poo bags, leads… basically everything required for a five-star dog outing. πŸΎπŸ˜‚

It also folds down easily, making it much easier to pop in the car when we're heading out on an adventure.

PawHut says this particular stroller is suitable for small and medium dogs up to 43cm in length and 20kg, and specifically highlights it as being suitable for senior pets or pets who tire easily — which makes it a pretty perfect match for our little Phoebe. πŸ’š

πŸ₯Ή More adventures for our old girl

At 14, we know Phoebe isn't going to be running around fields for an hour like she once did.

And that's okay.

We're learning to adapt our adventures around her, rather than expecting her to keep up with everyone else.

The stroller means she can still come along, still experience all the smells and sights, still have her little wanders and, most importantly, still be part of the gang.

Because getting older shouldn't mean missing out on all the fun. ❤️

And judging by the fact that Phoebe is 1000000% happy with her new wheels, we think she agrees!

She has officially entered her “I'm not walking, darling. I have people for that” era. πŸ‘‘πŸ˜‚

HUGE thank you to PawHut for gifting Phoebe her brand-new chariot and allowing our little old lady to keep enjoying her adventures with us. πŸ’šπŸΎ

If you're looking for a way to help a senior, recovering or easily-tired pup enjoy more adventures, definitely have a look at the PawHut pet stroller range.
